DON’T ask a friend to capture your vows or first dance on their phone
A videographer can overlay your vow audio over footage of the entire ceremony for easy viewing. They also have professional equipment to produce the best quality video. Plus, it’s not fair to ask your friend to concentrate on capturing memorable moments instead of letting them enjoy the day.
DO capture the moments you may have missed or want to relive
While you’re getting photos taken, your niece may break out in song and dance at the cocktail hour. In a few years’ time, you may wish you could hear your dad’s speech again. A videographer will capture these moments as well as the ones you wish you could live over again and again!

A videographer will work with your budget to deliver a product you’re happy with. Though you won’t be able to have 2 shooters, drone footage, and cinematic editing for a few hundred dollars, we recommend asking a videographer you love if there are a la carte options or what you can get within your price range.
DO research different video styles
From storytelling to short form, full edits to highlight reels, there are a lot of style options when it comes to video! Do some research and find the style you like best before reaching out to videographers.

Before meeting with a videographer, check out their YouTube or Vimeo pages to see past work. Not only does it show that they have experience, but you can see what their style is like and imagine your own wedding video! Plus, you’ll get a better idea of what shots you want included.
DO meet with them beforehand to discuss your expectations
You should never hire – or pay! – a vendor without meeting them first, especially if that vendor will be with you all day long. Your videographer will be following you down the aisle and may get up close during the cake cutting. It’s important that you like their personality and feel comfortable enough to ask questions or make requests.
